Calendula: the Sunny Soother

Calendula is one of my favorite herbal medicines because it is the ultimate soother for angry, inflamed, irritated tissues, both internally and externally. Not only are her petals beautiful with bright shades of yellow and orange but they are full of powerful medicine.  Calendula tincture is very soothing and healing for the entire digestive system, calming inflamed, irritated, infected areas of the digestive tract. Calendula tincture calms and soothes symptoms of Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS), Crohn’s disease and colitis. Its antiseptic, antiviral and detoxifying properties combat bowel and pelvic infections, E coli and herpes simplex. Acid reflux, heartburn and indigestion are soothed by Calendula tincture as well. Calendula contains many phytochemicals, including lutein, lycopene and quercetin, and contains calcium, CoQ10 and vitamins C and E. Calendula has mild effects on regulating menstrual cycles and its estrogenic properties ease the transition of estrogen production from the ovaries to the adrenal glands during menopause. Congested, swollen lymph glands are relieved by Calendula. Make an infusion with the dried petals and spray it on cuts, burns, eczema, or angry, irritated skin for nourishing, healing relief. It’s excellent for irritated paws or skin on our fur babies and will not harm them at all if they lick the area. My calendula babies are growing as we speak in the garden and will always be a part of my medicinal arsenal. I have dried calendula flowers and calendula tincture available.  We will have fresh calendula flowers very soon! Contact me to get some of this golden goodness 💛
