Calendula is one of my favorite herbal medicines because it is the ultimate soother for angry, inflamed, irritated tissues, both internally and externally. Not only are her petals beautiful with bright shades of yellow and orange but they are full of powerful medicine. Calendula tincture is very soothing and healing for the entire digestive system, calming inflamed, irritated, infected areas of the digestive tract. Calendula tincture calms and soothes symptoms of Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS), Crohn’s disease and colitis. Its antiseptic, antiviral and detoxifying properties combat bowel and pelvic infections, E coli and herpes simplex. Acid reflux, heartburn and indigestion are soothed by Calendula tincture as well. Calendula contains many phytochemicals, including lutein, lycopene and quercetin, and contains calcium, CoQ10 and vitamins C and E. Calendula has mild effects on regulating menstrual cycles and its estrogenic properties ease the transition of estrogen production from the ovaries to the adrenal glands during menopause. Congested, swollen lymph glands are relieved by Calendula. Make an infusion with the dried petals and spray it on cuts, burns, eczema, or angry, irritated skin for nourishing, healing relief. It’s excellent for irritated paws or skin on our fur babies and will not harm them at all if they lick the area. My calendula babies are growing as we speak in the garden and will always be a part of my medicinal arsenal. I have dried calendula flowers and calendula tincture available. We will have fresh calendula flowers very soon! Contact me to get some of this golden goodness 💛

Elderberry, Rosehips and Hibiscus tincture is one of my absolute favorites for keeping the immune system strong and combating colds and flus. I also use this when I need an energy boost. Elderberries are high in vitamin A, vitamin C and antioxidants. Elderberries are antiviral, anti-inflammatory, enhance immune function and are good for upper respiratory infections. Rosehips are anti-inflammatory, astringent and demulcent. Rosehips are high in bioflavonoids, Vitamin C, antioxidants, phytochemicals, calcium, magnesium, potassium, beta-carotene, quercetin, lycopene and tocopherols. Hibiscus is antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, high in antioxidants, high in vitamin C, reduces fever and has a great natural flavor. Hibiscus is cooling and mildly sedative-great for feverish symptoms. Hibiscus is a mild demulcent, soothing inflamed mucous membranes within the digestive and respiratory tracts. The gentle tonic action of Hibiscus will ease colds, coughs and chest issues. Hibiscus aids in digestion, gently stimulates the appetite and reduces cholesterol levels. The tri-fecta of goodness in this tincture is nourishing to your body on many levels.

When I hear someone say to me “herbal medicine doesn’t work”, it makes me so sad because it is simply not true. You just need to know WHICH herbs to use for YOUR unique body constitution.

Herbal medicine is not a one size fits all kind of thing. There are unique energetic actions and properties in each plant that interact with our unique body constitutions in different ways. There is a balance that must be obtained between our unique bodies and the plants’ unique properties. Some herbs are warming; others are cooling. Some are tonifying and some are relaxing. Some are drying and some are moistening. Every single plant has different effects on and affinities for different organs in our bodies. And every single one of us has our own unique system of energetics at play as well. Knowing which herbs to use that WILL work to bring your body into balance is exactly what herbal practitioners like me are trained to do. I work with you to figure out which herbs and foods to use for your specific health issues, so you get results. Transforming the health of my family, friends and clients is such a rewarding process- for them and for me. Seeing someone’s health and wellness improve WITHOUT the harmful side effects of pharmaceutical drugs is one of the best feelings in the world not only for my clients but for me as well. Click the link to set up a wellness consultation with me to get a custom wellness plan that works for your unique body.
